The Band
What makes us tick
Karen McKenzie
Vocals, flute, keytar, penny whistle & percussion
I've been singing since I can remember. I'm told my first words were "Doo doo, dah dah dah" while listening to the Beatles on Ready Steady Go in my high chair. My musical taste is eclectic; everything from Led Zeppelin to Mozart, via The Eagles, Morcheeba and traditional folk. Anything with a good beat and great harmonies.

Paul Howson
Lead guitars, mandolin, vocals
My first influence was my English Teacher, Paul Sherman. Paul would bring his guitar into lessons and I got hooked. I am fond of old blues and follow Daddy Stove Pipe on YouTube. I love to play a variety of guitars and mandolins. My favourite music is Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, JJ Cale & Kaiser Chiefs amongst many more.

Geoff Foreman
Vocals and harmonica
My early years were musically influenced by my elder brother playing his 7 inch vinyl collection. I would sing along to Cilla Black, Cliff Richard, The Beatles, the Searchers et al. I discovered the blues at University where I ditched the trumpet and bought my first "harp", "metal sandwich" or "gob iron". One afternoon I received a call from a musician friend who told me he had been asked if he knew anyone who could sing. He put my name forward, I went along to meet the group and after a few hours I went home and told my wife "I think I've just joined a band!".

Paul Jenkins
Bass guitar and vocals
I started playing guitar at 13, inspired by Ralph McTell, Bob Dyland and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. It took 30 years before I felt able to play at a folk club, but I had a go and have never looked back.
Having moved to Broadstairs 7 years ago I now play in a Ukele band, play electric guitar in a weekly singing group and play solo at some local folk night.
I now enjoy playing bass and occasionally singing with Miscellany.

Paul Chevalier
Rhythm guitar
Our founding member of the band. Paul is unfortunately no longer playing with us.
"I bought my first guitar when I was at university - it had a warped neck and no strings and cost me £2.50! Neverthelss, I taught myself to play in the style of Simons & Garfunkel, Tom Paxton and Ralph McTell. By the early 80s I was confident enought to perform at folk clubs in east Kent.
Over the years I've been involved with several bands and I'm now enjoying the challenge of playing rhythm guitar with Miscellany"
